A Huge Short History Lost… In Our Time

I am very sad to see this solid Civic eyesore ripped apart like this.

Since 1977 it has been a favorite eyesore.
I grew to love its expansive concourse, labyrinthine offices and post-concrete grand Chamber. It is where I rummaged all my tricks. From keeping Boxmoor’s vibrant punk Arts Centre open, to not letting go of the Rex. And I made friends, some great individuals, eccentric if not nuts. Luckily too many have not lived to see its brutal architecture so brutally demolished. My last less successful visit (last summer) now gladly lies in its 5-minute rubble. That Berkhamsted multi-story car park was a foregone. Enough.
