To infinity, beyond and also back to the beginning. Pixar’s wonderful origin story of the galaxy’s most beloved space ranger.
Accidentally traveling 62 years forward in time during a test flight for Star Command, Buzz Lightyear is marooned on a hostile planet 4.2 million light-years from Earth. Trying to find a way back home through space and time, Buzz, alongside charming robot companion cat Sox, faces his toughest test as the mission and the fate of the universe are threatened by the evil Emperor Zurg and his army of ruthless robots.
For those wondering, Buzz isn’t joined by Woody, Jessie or any of his other Toy Story friends. This isn’t a “toy story”. It’s the movie from within the movie. It’s what kicked off the Buzz phenomenon for Andy and his friends back in the summer of ’95. This is Andy’s Star Wars. The familiar tones of Tim Allen’s iconic voice as Buzz also won’t be heard this time around, with that honour instead going to Chris Evans who effortlessly steps into those chunky, intergalactic boots.
Both familiar and entirely fresh, it’s a beautifully animated, fun and emotional journey and stands proudly as some of Pixar’s greatest work
