Star Wars! When will it ever end? The Skywalker Saga came to a close recently but that doesn’t mean we can’t revisit the series’ greatest chapter.
Like all good middle parts to a three-act story, this is where things get darke; our heroes are thrown to the wind as the Big Bad Dad himself, Vader, obsessively pursues the rebels across the galaxy.
After a riveting battle on a snow covered planet, the rebels flee to re-group and lick their wounds. The ghost of Alec Guinness tells Luke to seek out a puppet for further Jedi training as Han, Leia and the rest of the gang swoop through asteroid fields to escape the Empire.
Culminating in a tense showdown amidst a city in the clouds; Luke must face Vader for the first time and in doing so, revealing, well you all know by now. The Empire Strikes Back is paced to perfection, with nary a dull moment, and is still the template to how all good sequels are judged. Not catching it on the big screen would be a cinematic crime.
