Run time: 95 mins
Every season feels like The Stath season. You never have to wait long for another Jason Statham vehicle to come barreling along, guns blazing.
And Mutiny is no different; this time, he’s on a boat! Statham is Cole Reed who, after witnessing his billionaire boss’ murder and being framed for the crime, boards a cargo ship on a one-man crusade to avenge his boss’ death, only to of course discover an international conspiracy. A conspiracy that involves an assortment of outwardly evil human traffickers and thus gives Cole plenty of reasons to put his elite fists to good use. Opposite Statham, Annabelle Wallis joins the fray, and the film also introduces the formidable Roland Møller as the menacing antagonist Marko Madsen.
Director Jean-François Richet, who gave us the ludicrous yet equally thrilling Gerard Butler starring Plane, ostensibly gives us more of the same B-movie vibes in this “Die-Hard-On-A-Boat” action-thriller (if you’ve seen Under Siege, you get the idea). Any Stath fans are, no doubtably, already on board with the premise. Goes down nicely with a few beers on a Friday night.
